If I had a rap name, it would probably be Ms. Snacks A Lot — just kidding it definitely wouldn’t be, but if it were, it would be true! I feel like I always have some food on hand somewhere. The other day my co-worker told me “oooh what do we have today? You always have good stuff.” So here I am, sharing the good stuff I normally snack on!

The reason I say healthyish, is because I am not a dietitian. I eat things with sugar, I love carbs, I eat gluten, I eat dairy, and I don’t follow a specific diet regiment (paleo, Adkins, etc). I don’t stray away from things that people may take issue with, and that’s all good. We all have very different bodies that are ever-changing. We also have very different tastes. But, while I don’t follow a specific diet, I also try to not eat garbage either.

Here are some of my very favorite snacks (I know I’m leaving out a few) that will help get you through the day!

1)  Epic Bites —

You’ll see that I love this brand a lot. If you don’t eat meat, you should skip to item number 2. — Epic prides itself on getting us back to our hunters and gatherers days. Yes, they do use animals, but are certified humane, and allow their animals to eat and roam freely. Not only are they modeling their company off an of open pasture model, but they are also helping to convert ranchers to this livestock model as well to help change American agriculture.

Fairly similar to jerky, EPIC Bites are created by combining high quality meat with a lot of great seasoning. They also add things to their bites like superfood seeds and fruit. It’s high protein, low in sugar, gluten + grain free, and is soy + dairy free as well. They also taste really freakin’ good. And I know what you’re probably thinking: chicken? as jerky? No way? — WAY! Those Sesame Ginger flavored things are my absolute favorite next to the Sweet and Spicy Sriracha. They also have a similar recipe in bar form — but I did not have any on hand as I have already devoured them throughout the week end.

2) Epic Performance Bars

I told you I love this company a lot — and now they make performance protein bars. These will be a lot closer to your more traditional protein bars in the sense that they are not the meat bars Epic has built its brand on.

Now I know what you’re thinking: They remind you of RX Bars, with their Simple ingredients, clean packaging, etc. Which is true, there are a lot of similarities. Personally, love these more than RX – cage free egg whites, better texture, marginally less fat, they have the same protein content, and it has slightly more sugar. But as we have already established, I do like sugar, so that’s not a deal breaker for me. My favorite flavors have been Almond Butter and Peanut Butter!

3) Barnana Bites

If you don’t like bananas, just skip over these. Immediately when you open the bag, you are wafted with the strong scent of banana.

Barnana is a comapny striving towards ending food waste on organic banana farms by upcycling the bananas.  When bananas have scuffs, are slightly too ripe, or aren’t the right size- they are typically rejected for export. Barnana then, in turn, takes these delicious bananas and turn them into snacks. They also make chips, brittle, and more, so clearly I need to branch out and try some other snacks, but the 2 bags are my current favorites. Of course you got to have something to help curve the sweet tooth cravings, well these PB bites and Dark Chocolate bites help!

4) KIND Fruit Bites

These are not your average fruit snacks, folks.

KIND says that you won’t find any added sugar in these. There are no juices, purees, concentrates or preservatives in this snack – just straight up fruit. These have a semi weird texture to them, but they are in fact delicious. I seem to love anything mango (another one of my favorite snacks not pictured), so these were a great on-the-go option for me.

5) Emerald  Cocoa Roast Almonds

And for desert…. Cocoa! Well, sort of. Almonds are great snacks because they contain a lot of healthy fats, fiber, protein, magnesium and vitamin E. They’re a good way to help fill full without the junkiness of traditional snacks like chips. With all the fiber they contain, they are very good for your gut.  And because plain almonds can be very boring and not everyone’s top flavor profile, the cocoa roasted adds a little something without too much extra.

And because I have zero willpower to not eat the whole bottle — these 100 calorie packs are a great way for me to pace my almond eating.

So there you have it! My favorite snacks (with some honorable mentions mixed in) in no specific order whatsoever. I’m sure this list will grow, so I’ll be sure to keep you updated on any future favorite snacks I may find on my journey.

Happy snacking! – MB
